The Projection Foundation is a network of film festivals and organizations working together to provide ‘offline’ and underrepresented communities with the tools and training necessary to exchange their stories through local cinema screenings and regional open air film festivals.
The Projection Foundation combines village-based media production & open air film festivals to help ‘offline’ communities to project and broadcast their narratives across multiple media channels.
Our first product is an online community designed to link projectionists around the world with filmmakers, content producers, and storytellers. Through the Projectionists.org community, projectionists can share the skills of their trade and work together to span the digital divide that still exists in many parts of the world.
This community will also serve as a forum to showcase participants’ work. We will encourage comments and video responses from observers around the world that will be projected back to the local communities using our projection systems.
The Projection Foundation’s most visible product will be our local community and regional film festivals. We will work with regional and national governments to take inflatable cinema systems on tour of participating communities. These screenings will feature select content produced by storytellers in each participating transmedia workshop.
